In order to register RedHat minions (RHEL with or without RedHat Extended Support and Centos) the following steps are necessary.

On the server

  1. Make sure you have the corresponding RES product enabled and the channels synced
  2. Create a bootrstrap repo for RHEL with mgr-create-bootstrap-repo

On the minion (manual registration)

  1. Add the bootstrap repo via yum-config-manager --add-repo repository_url
  2. Install the Salt minion: yum install salt-minion
  3. Edit the minion configuration to point to the Suse Manager server
  4. Start the minion
  5. Go to the server UI: Salt -> Onboarding and accept the key of the minion
