We are evaluating the SLED and it looks quite promising.

However, as we are IT department and use linux because it is the best platform for the job, we also need stuff like apache, php, mysql ... on our laptops to experiment before using production boxes. Any idea when this will be standard in the SLED?

Hopefully someone will respond with the True Answer, but I believe you can add the SLES or other installation sources to SLED, and then install the packages you want from there.

Start here: http://en.opensuse.org/YaST_package_repository to find package repositories.

Hope so. Thanks for the hint. I already installed the badly missing gkrellm this way. Gnome system monitor takes half the screen estate...
