-=Launch Scripts=- I was wondering what the format was for scripts in the 'Run Before Launching' box. We have an application that we would like people to log their usage of in an Excel document. The doc is on a network drive, and we wanted it to automatically open before the app was run. It requires a simple command: "C:\Program files\Microsoft office\Office\excel.exe" p:\VNC\VNClog However, I must not be doing it right, because currently VNC opens, and the excel doc never does. Is there a "call" or "launch" statment, or something similar?

Thanks a bunch!

In the launch and distribution script, you can do what ever a batch file or a vbs file can do but you need to specify the interpreter of your script. In the bottom of the launch script window, you have to enter the extension of your script (ex: .bat or .vbs), then you have to enter the interpreter (ex:c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe /c or c:\windows\system32\wscript.exe). Note that for a batch file you absolutly need to add /c do cmd. If you don't your launch script will never finish. /c mean that the cmd process end after the batch file. I hope that this can help you

I'm looking for / to create documentation about the Zen 7 Imaging boot CD. I used to halfway understand the old Zen 4 / 6.x CD (based on Feather Linux?) but not being a SUSE-head, the new SLES 9 based one is confusing me more than a little. I'm also not sure what components of SLES 9 are *not* installed on the Zen CD. Specifically, USB support - I want to restore images from USB drive, but lsusb doesn't seem to be there (which was on the 6.x CD), nor any premade mount points under /mnt. Not sure quite what the conventions are here. Was a decision made to remove USB support from the CD, and if so, what's the philosophy behind that? I'll tinker and if I can find a way of enabling USB I'll post it on the ZFD_Imaging page. --Culln 20:57, 1 May 2006 (MDT)

Duh. mkdir /mnt/usb;mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb works fine. Also cat /proc/bus/usb/devices makes a sort-of substitute for lsusb. --Culln 21:29, 1 May 2006 (MDT)

I am having some issues with a post distribution script. I am using AutoIT to execute some commands like adding registries (some of the characters are not supported by ZENworks or by the scripting language, "Regedt32 /s") and registering .net components (using Regasm.exe), all of these actions are non-interactive but the Distribution script doesn't complete. i have checked the syntax by inserting the code into Launch scripts though this is not a viable solution as this is executed prior to MSI distributions thus creating errors for users. does anyone have a way around these issues?

Cheers.
