Slow iSCSI check list

This check list taken from 3 main sources

Check list

  1. NIC bios firmware updated?
  2. Switch firmware/IOS udpated?
  3. Set maximum physical receive packet size = 18000 Docs conflict. I lean towards the higher of the two
  4. Set TCP Maximum Initial Receive Window = 64
  5. TOE (TCP Offloading Engine) See 3754710 iSCSI Overview - Optimization and Performance tuning. for more information.
  6. Is the server's memory in order (working well)? See TID: 3920657
  7. "It is not recommended to run mission critical apps across iSCSI due to the delays that can very well occur during a high utilization period."
  8. "It is not recommended to attempt backups during production times or periods of high user activity."
  9. If a GroupWise server: Maximum Wait States = 0 change to 5 (this is a common setting for GW servers)
