This wiki page details the compatibility and functionality of the HTC Hero with Novell Data Synchronizer Mobility Connector. Please contribute relevant information or corrections in our effort to facilitate end-user experience.

Setup Instructions

Basic instructions on getting your Mobility Pack running on your HTC Hero or Eris device:


1. Make sure that your Mobility Pack server is up and running and you have the following information:

  • Server address or hostname
  • Port (if non-standard)
  • Whether the server requires a secure connection or not

2. From the main home page, click on the "Menu" button.

  • Select "Settings"
  • Select "Accounts & sync"

Select "Add account" Choose "Exchange ActiveSync"

3. It will now prompt you to enter in the information for the account you are adding:

  • First, make sure to choose "Manual Setup".
  • Now you can enter in your
    • email address
      • NOTE: When entering your email address, make sure you type in the complete domain, not an abbreviated version of the domain. (For example, if the full domain is @g40.lab.novell.com, do not just type @novell.com, type the full thing)
    • server address
    • domain (optional)
    • username
    • password
    • Also select if your account has an encrypted SSL connection.
  • Click "Next"
  • A security warning may pop up telling that "This certificate is not from a trusted authority". Click "Continue".


4. Select to sync mail, contacts, and calendar items (if you wish for these items to be sync to your device)

  • Click "Finish setup"

5. Your HTC Hero or Eris should now start syncing all the items that you selected. Go to mail, calendar, or contacts to view the synced items.

  • Posted Appointments

Modifying the time of the posted appointment from the GW client will not sync to the device, the original time will be displayed.

If the appointment is deleted from the GW client, the deleted appointment will remain on the device.

  • Meetings

Modifying the time of a meeting creates a duplicate appointment on the device, with the original appointment and time remaining as well.

If a meeting is deleted from the GW client, the appointment will remain on the device.
